21 Jan Artists Within concert, February 1st, 2020
Ars Choralis will present a fundraiser concert in its “Artist Within” series on Sat., Feb. 1 (snow date: Feb. 8) at 8 pm. The Sheeley House, a B&B in High Falls. The concert showcases “Frets, Keys & Pipes,” the duo of singers Harvey Boyer and Greg Dinger, who also play keyboards & guitars respectively. Boyer has been singing with Ars Choralis for about 10 years and Dinger has been with the chorus since the 1990s (and he’s currently president of the AC board). They’ll be joined on several numbers by guest artist, singer Nicole Ryan (who happens to be a band member of “Fishbowl,” of which Boyer & Dinger are also members). Dinger and Boyer are seasoned performers and music educators in the Hudson Valley area, and have each performed in a variety of classical, musical theater and rock & jazz situations for many years.
Their highly unusual genre-spanning program will include songs ranging from early rock ’n’ roll (Fats Domino, Elvis Presley, The Beatles) to classical (Dowland, Schubert, Verdi), to Broadway (Leonard Bernstein, Frank Loesser, Meredith Willson) to more modern rock and fusion (Linda Ronstadt, Hall & Oates, Sting, The Crusaders), plus spirituals and guitar music.
Admission is by donation, and a reception follows the show.
The Sheeley House is located at 6 Fairview Ave., at the intersection with Lucas Ave., in High Falls. Seating is limited at these concerts, so reservations are recommended: (845) 687-4360.
