This 26th annual Welcome Yule concert featured Margaret Bonds’ The Ballad of the Brown King with libretto by Langston Hughes. It tells the story of Balthazar, the brown King. Special guest Doris Schuyler, Pastor of the Riverview Missionary Baptist Church in Kingston, read from Langston Hughes’s Black Nativity.
